The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is a place of endless discovery, and the Friends are thrilled to announce a new way for our members to connect with the natural world around them. We invite Friends members to engage the destination, learn something new, and enhance your visit with our brand-new Educational Backpack Program.

The inaugural edition, Exploring Butterflies and Moths, is now available. Perfect for families and homeschool groups with kids ages 17 and under, each backpack is packed with enough activities and resources to entertain your nature lovers and curious minds for a few hours. Dive into the vibrant world of the order Lepidoptera and gain a deeper appreciation for these fascinating winged insects.

This program is an exclusive benefit for our valued members. To participate, simply visit the Hardwicke Interpretive Center to check out a backpack for your adventure. These packs are in high demand and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend arriving early in the day to secure one.
