Closure Didn't Stop Progress

First S'mores by Starlight a Hit

One of the benefits of joining the Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is access to special events and activities. In November 2018, the first “S’mores by Starlight” event proved to be very popular with attendees.

Camp Paddle & Cast
and the Joys of Nature

Partnering with the city's community centers, the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge introduces urban kids from Fort Worth's neighborhoods to the joys of nature during the Camp Paddle & Cast summer program. The kids are able to canoe along the West Fork of the Trinity River, camp under the stars, and learn to fish. By getting to know and appreciate nature, kids acquire new confidence and a stronger sense of place.

With iNaturalist

iNaturalist is a great way to learn about the flora and fauna around you, and the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is a perfect location to check out this amazing app. Thanks to citizen naturalists, thousands of observations have been made at the Nature Center and uploaded to the app, providing valuable information about the plants and animals found there. Join Nature Center Manager Rob Denkhaus as he talks about this citizen science tool.
