How Did the Nature Center’s Bison Herd Come to Be?
On November 9, 1973, three bison were obtained from the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge herd to establish a bison herd here at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. The first Nature Center bison birth occurred on May 21, 1974. It was a girl!
